The Vampire King stole my virginity and broke my heart. When someone tries to kill me, he lets me stay in his safe house. He’ll protect me from the assassins, but who’s going to protect me from him?

His deep voice resonated through my body and settled at the most sensitive spot between my legs. What on earth was he doing? We had a shadow assassin, shadow curse, or whatever that thing was, lurking outside the house. We needed to call someone to get rid of it, not hole up in the villa sniffing each other’s necks.
I placed a hand on his hard chest to give him a shove, and his rapid heartbeat thudded against my palm. My mouth dropped open, and my gaze met his smoldering violet eyes, which radiated an intense and naked hunger. All the moisture left my throat. Did I really have such an effect on him?
“Valentine,” I tried to keep the tremble out of my voice. “We should be fighting what’s out there—”
“My wards are old and absolute,” he said in a deep, melodic voice that curled around my senses like a cat. “No one will enter.”
“Alright.” My tongue darted out to lick my dry lips, and his eyes tracked the movement.
I gulped. The Valentine who had courted me had always shown restraint and had never been so openly passionate. Maybe it was because of our three years of absence. Maybe I would have felt the same intensity of desire if that shadow thing hadn’t wrapped around my ankle and tried to drag me under the taxi.
“Could you put me down, please?” I murmured. “I need to sit away from the fire.”
Still cradling me to his chest, Valentine backed us toward an armchair and lowered himself into the seat. He raised the arm around my back, and threaded his fingers through my hair, cupping the back of my head.
“Is that better?” he asked.
My heart pounded so loudly that his voice distorted through my ears. “A little,” I replied, “but I really wanted to sit on the sofa.”
He grinned, staring at me through sparkling eyes.
“You’re already sitting on me.”
“Yes, but—”
His lips descended on mine in a soft kiss that sent a jolt of electricity through my insides.
“Oh,” I said with a moan.
Before I could repeat my request for him to let go, he kissed me again, this time parting my lips with his. Valentine shifted beneath me, and his hardness pressed into my ass. My lips parted with a gasp, and he slipped his tongue into my mouth.
Valentine’s lips were both soft and firm, coaxing and demanding, his tongue caressing mine in a series of languid strokes that sent spirals of pleasure racing through all my most sensitive spots. The rapid pulse of my desire boomed through my skull, its echoes drowning out a tiny voice that whispered at me to slow down and focus on the assassin outside the door.
Vampire saliva contained enough thrall to subdue even the strongest of supernaturals, and with each kiss, each curl of his tongue, I melted further in his arms and surrendered to desire.
Warmth gathered between my legs, bringing with it a surge of moisture that dampened my folds. Right now, my entire world coalesced into the strong arms securing me to the broad hard body, and the waves of pleasure Valentine incited with his lips and teeth and tongue.
My heart pounded. My blood roared. I wanted more. Needed it.
With a desperate moan into the kiss, I ran my palms over the contour of his hard pecs, over his broad shoulders, and around his thick neck.
Valentine groaned in response, deepening the kiss. He devoured me, consumed me, subdued me, and muffled my cries with more of those toe-curling kisses.
“You are most intoxicating,” he drawled.
My only response was a muffled groan as I clung onto his neck.
With one hand, he unbuttoned my coat, and with the other, he held me in place, his kisses now traveling along my jawline and down to my neck.
The pulse between my legs quickened. Would he bite me? Would he let me taste his blood? Excitement rippled through my insides, and with it, a bout of terror. Exchanging saliva with a vampire was dangerous enough, but blood…
“Valentine,” I murmured.
“Shhh,” he whispered, his kisses traveling down to my collarbone. “I know exactly what you need.”
